A Field Trip to the lake Dümmer

In march 2022 the lake Dümmer was awarded as “living lake” of 2022 by the Global Nature Fund. Not just because of the lakeside but also because of the wet lands which sourround the Dümmer, the biodiversity is increasing and the award is more than deserved for all the hard work of natural reserving.

Hence, the Institution of Geography of the University of Osnabruck decided to plan an excursion in cooperation with the LimnoScenES project. The excursion took part with 16 geography students at the lake Dümmer on the 7th of July 2022. During the field trip the students visited the Marissa Holidaypark, a huge complex of holiday houses, which were built in a few years ago. The next step was a surf station and in the end the students visited the ecological station of the lake Dümmer. The three destinations were chosen because they all have different types of uses for the lake. The main goal was to give the students an insight about the stakeholder’s different interests and potential conflicts between stakeholders in the lake area. The LimoScenES project tries to address these conflicts through it’s participatory process and now ongoing working groups.
