Discussing the results of the 2nd workshop
End of January, the project team and the stakeholders of the lake Dümmer case study met again to reflect upon the milestones and steps for action that the stakeholders had elaborated in the 2nd workshop. You find the brief summary of the meeting results here: LimnoScenES_Diskussionsrunde 2021-01-26_Ergebnisse
In the joint discussion the stakeholders came to the following conclusions:
- there is agreement on the ideas for the milestones and action steps
- the state of Lower Saxony must show the political will that the region is a top priority and will support its sustainable transformation with funding
- there is a need to develop a concept that takes a holistic perspective, comprising the entire catchment area, and which outlines the medium- and long-term goals. Such a concept should contain
- a project management plan
- a risk management
- a stakeholder management strategy
- the definition of interfaces, as many topics fall into several areas of responsibility
- the region’s motto should be “developing instead of managing” since local control and responsibility is the better option due to knowledge about and insight into local needs and structures
- effective regional structures – the prerequisite to effectively coordinate the planned activities – are in place.
In the third and last workshop we want to deal with the following topics:
- concretise the next steps for action & prioritise measures
- develop an implementation plan
- strengthen stakeholder cooperation & identify and clarify needs
- prepare the results for communication with decision-makers
- consider a follow-up project that brings structure to the planned process
